1. LINE HONOURS IN RESULTS

We’ve added a Line Honours option to race setup. This can be enabled at the bottom of the Race Details page. When switched on, the live results and results pages will show two new tabs that rank boats by finish time. These tabs make it easy to see who crossed the line first, alongside the usual corrected-time results.

2. Competitor requests

A new Competitor Requests feature has been introduced for races and regattas. This can be enabled in Race Details, with options to allow:

  • Questions to the Organizing Authority
  • Equipment Substitution Requests
  • Crew Substitution Requests

Once enabled, a Competitor Requests menu item will appear in the Race Office. Requests follow a format similar to Scoring Enquiries, with automatic numbering, timestamps, sail number, boat name, contact, and status (Pending, Under Review, Approved, Denied).

Each request type includes specific details:

  • Questions to the Organizing Authority – with public comments from the Technical Committee.
  • Equipment Substitution – includes items being replaced, reason for replacement, substitute item details, and Technical Committee comments (public and internal).
  • Crew Substitution – includes current and replacement crew names, reason for substitution, and Technical Committee comments (public and internal).

On the public noticeboard, a Competitor Requests button with a count is displayed. Requests marked Under Review, Approved, or Denied are visible to all competitors.

3. Pre-live co-pilot checks

The Pre-Live Co-Pilot compares your race setup against patterns from previous events and highlights potential issues. Any items found are listed with direct links to correct them. The check is available in the Quick Actions menu of the event dashboard, and you’ll also be prompted to run it before setting an event live as an extra safeguard.

4. Competitor app enhancement’s

Several updates have been made to the Competitor App within the Race Office:

New Requirement Toggle: Events can now enforce the rule “At least one person must have the app installed with permission to make declarations.” If enabled, a race entry will show an outstanding task until the requirement is met. This option is available in the Competitor App tab of an event.

Crew List Column: When the Competitor App is toggled on, a new Competitor App column is shown in the crew list. A green tick indicates the crew member has the app installed; a red cross indicates they do not.

Noticeboard Links: For events using the Competitor App, quick links are now displayed on the noticeboard, making the app easier for competitors to access.

5. RACE OFFICER APP AUDIT LOGS

Race Officers can now view a full audit trail of all inputs and changes to a boat’s finish time or status within an event. The audit shows who made each change, along with the previous and updated values. This is available under the Race Officer App tab.

6. Start all

A Start All button has been added to the Finishing tab within an event. Selecting this will set all boats to DNF with a single action.

7. Boat epribs

Boats can now register up to five Boat EPIRB devices, along with up to five optional Boat AIS devices linked to each Boat EPIRB. The details appear in the boat’s information, the Coast Guard and SAR report, and the Search and Rescue section of the entry details.

Boat EPIRB entries must use the correct identifiers:

HexID: 15 or 23 characters, made up of hexadecimal values (0–9, A–F).

AIS: numeric only, 9 digits, starting with 974 (e.g. 974456789).

These checks help ensure accurate information is recorded.

8. New reporting system

A new reporting system has been introduced, allowing custom reports to be added at any time without waiting for a release. Reports can be created at either the system-wide level or the race level, and may be specific to an individual club or shared across all clubs where relevant.

System-wide reports: Available under the Admin tab in the Race Office.

Race-level reports: Accessible from the event dashboard via the Reports button in Quick Actions.

If you need a reported added, please email support@nautical-cloud.com

9. Bow Numbers

Bow numbers can now be enabled for events from the Event Details page. Once enabled, numbers are managed within the Race Office and can be entered for each event entry.

If the event is using the check-in/check-out feature, the allocated bow number will also appear there for confirmation. Bow numbers are displayed in both the Who’s Entered list and the event results.

10. Recommended custom question

We’ve added a new custom question type, recommended. When a custom question is recommended it isn’t mandatory that the event entry completes the question but is flagged an outstanding task and shows as a yellow alert for both the event entry and race office. This can be setup within the event under the Customs questions tab.

11. Hearings board enhancemnets

We’ve introduced major improvements to the hearings board. Hearing requests can now be linked together, allowing related requests to be grouped for easier administration.

Hearing board enhancements

You can now add multiple contacts to a hearing request and assign each one a role. Available roles include: Initiator, Respondent, Race Committee, Technical Committee, Witness, and Other. You can also mark a contact as the skipper and/or person in charge.

Contacts don’t need to have an account in the system. You can add external contacts by entering an email address and/or phone number, so they’ll still receive communications.

When sending a communication, both the email and text body will be pre-filled with a brief summary of the hearing, confirming their involvement and providing a link to the hearings board for further details. If a hearing time and location are already set, these will be included automatically. You can delete or edit this text to create a fully custom message, and when sending by email, you’ll also have the option to include any attached documents. This makes it far easier to keep everyone connected and ensures no key information is missed.

The Hearings Board Copilot has been updated with the latest World Sailing rules and upgraded to a more powerful AI engine, giving you smarter, more accurate assistance.
