new-app-nautical-cloud

We’re excited to launch a brand-new app designed for competitors, giving them quick and easy access to all the races and regattas they’re part of. With this app, competitors can:

  • View the noticeboard and key race details, including date and time zone
  • Complete important tasks like on-water check-ins, POB check-ins, and finish declarations
  • See a live countdown for when check-ins open and receive notifications when they become available
  • Get alerts when the race goes live and when their class start time is published

The Competitor App can be enabled in the Race Details section under the Competitor App tab. Here, you can select a check-in type (Crew No or Simple), set the check-in open time and date, and include a check-in note that competitors will see when completing the process. Additionally, there is a toggle called Set Entries to DNF When Checked In within this tab.

We’ve added a toggle in the Race Office that allows a notification to be sent, prompting competitors to complete their finish declaration once their boat has been marked as finished—either via tracking or by the race committee. This toggle can be found within the Finish Declarations Setup tab within the race details.

The App can be found by searching Nautical Cloud Competitor App on the Apple store or using the QR code below.

Please note that the Competitor App is currently supported only on iOS devices, but we are working on releasing an Android-compatible version soon.

Skippers can grant crew members permission to complete these tasks by selecting ‘Allow App Permissions’ within the Crew tab of the race entry.

2. PUBLIC LINKS PAGE

We’ve added a new page within a race or regatta that displays all public links related to the event. These links will be available even before the event is published, allowing race organizers to include them in notice of races or on websites.

3. RACE OFFICER APP AUDIT

To enhance visibility and transparency, we’ve introduced an Audit Page in the Race Officer App Access section. This page provides a detailed log of key actions, including who finished a boat, who changed its status or finish time, and when these changes occurred. It records the user who made the change, the exact time it was made, as well as the previous and new status or finish time. This ensures a clear and reliable record of all updates, making it easier to track and verify important race data. This page can be found in the ‘Race Officer App’ within a race or Regatta.

4. WHO’S ENTERED AND RESULTS ENHANCEMENTS

We’ve completely redesigned the Who’s Entered and Results pages to give them a modern look while improving readability. This includes updates to the layout, font, and spacing between cards, making it easier to navigate and find key information.

We’ve enhanced the appearance of the Who’s Entered and Results pages. If a division name exceeds two lines or there are more than eight divisions, a dropdown menu will replace the tabs. This improves the page layout and makes it more user-friendly for viewers.

5. SHOW NON DECLARED ON LIVE RESULTS

We’ve added a new toggle that highlights all finished boats in red if their finish declaration hasn’t been completed. This feature has been introduced in the hope to get competitors to submit finish declarations on

This option can be enabled in the Finish Declaration Setup tab within the race details of a race or regatta.

6. NOTICEBOARD ENHANCEMNETS

We’ve enhanced the noticeboard with two updates. Now, when uploading documents, the preset time will align with the race’s time zone rather than the device’s time zone. Additionally, ‘Other Event Documents’ can now be ordered when uploaded to the noticeboard.

7. INSPECTIONS

We’ve added an ‘Inspection Status’ dropdown to the Tasks and Crew tab within a race entry. Race Officers can now set the inspection status to one of the following options:

None required
Contact the Race Office to arrange an inspection (Alert)
Your inspection is scheduled but not complete (Alert)
You have follow-up tasks to complete following your inspection (Alert)
Inspection complete
This function can be enabled in the Entry Requirements section of the race details.

If the inspection status is set to Contact the Race Office to arrange an inspection, Your inspection is scheduled but not complete, or You have follow-up tasks to complete following your inspection, both the race entry and Race Officers will see an outstanding task on the race entry.

8. SERIES AND REGATTA ENHANCEMENTS

We’ve added several new features to regattas. You can now send an automatic email when a competitor enters a regatta. Additionally, we’ve introduced World Sailing restrictions, including ID validation and the ability to set restrictions based on World Sailing categories. If the criteria aren’t met, these will be flagged as outstanding tasks for competitors. We have also added the World Sailor report to Regattas in the Quick Actions.

9. YB TRACKER ENHANCEMENT

We have added a new toggle within the race entry called ‘Don’t send Finish Event to YB?’. When toggled on the finish time of this entry to YB tracker when it is finished in Nautical Cloud. This option is useful when the boat might be continuing past the finish line on an extending race that uses a different YB viewer but the same Yb serial number.

Competitors can now enter their personal YB serials in their boat details. Once entered, the serial will carry through to all parts of the race, including the fleet sheet. Boat owners can only enter serial numbers that meet YB criteria: the YB Tracker Serial must be 4 or 5 digits long, start with 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, and contain only numbers.

10. SERIES PRICING

We’ve introduced a new way to price races, now you can bundle multiple races into a single series pricing option. Competitors can purchase a block of races in one go, making the entry process smoother. This will enter them into all races included in the pricing.

To set up series pricing:

  • Enter a series and select the new “Entire Series Entry Pricing” option.
  • Create the series pricing using the same structures as standard races—choose from free entry, a price list, or a flat rate for all entries.

We’ve also added a handy toggle. When enabled, if a competitor has already entered an individual race within the series, the cost of that race will be deducted from the total series price.

11. TAGS AND SPECIAL AWARDS ENHANCEMENTS

You can now view the Special Awards results. Once a race is set to Live, the Special Awards button on the noticeboard will direct you to the results page, where race entries will be scored based on the award setup (Elapsed Time, Corrected Time, Correct Time, or Manual).

Tags Special Awards

Tags will also be shown in the results. A new Tags tab allows you to view both live results and tag-specific results. Selecting a tag on a boat within the results will take you to the corresponding tag results.

When in a series, you can now select what tags are scored on the results within the class. You can do this by editing a regatta class and selecting ‘Tags to Score’.

Tags to score

We’ve set a 25-character limit for tags to ensure they always display properly on the Who’s Entered page and noticeboards.
